Elmore Leonard's Top 10 Writing Tips or How to be Popular and Respectable
by
John Paul Gillespie
Elmore Leonard, or "Dutch" to his fans, started out writing pulp westerns in the 1950s before turning to crime fiction, perhaps influenced by real-life headlines about Bonnie and Clyde while growing up. One of modern America's most popular and prolific writers, Leonard has written over two dozen novels, including 'Glitz', 'Get Shorty', 'Maximum Bob', and 'Rum Punch'-most of them bestsellers.

Writing Tips For Novelists - Inserting Dialogue to Improve Narrative Pacing
by
Robert L. Bacon
It would be nice to relate that few writers ever have pacing issues, but as any novelist knows, the story's tempo is often--as it should be--on the forefront of the author's mind. In the writing workshops I facilitate that are sponsored by the Palm Beach County Library System, budding authors often ask about ways to better pace their material. One of my suggestions is to insert dialogue if the scene is flagging.

How to Write a Novel - Ten Rules of Writing
by
Joe Nassise
I'm closing in on the end of my latest novel and as always during this stage, I've begun to think about the editing process in earnest. When I first started out I would edit each piece of work as I went along. This was both time consuming and frustrating.

Write Compelling Fiction - Article Fifteen
by
L. J. Martin
ACTION: Writing action is a special talent and one you must master if you're going to write western adventure novels. Remember we talked about pacing before? That was in regard to pacing throughout the whole book. In an action scene, pacing is everything. And I don't mean pacing as it relates to the book as a whole, but rather as it relates to a single scene.
